Workshop Description

Positive Psychology is a cutting-edge field in the science of psychology that was founded on the belief that people want to live in a way that is not just functional – but that is meaningful and fulfilling. Positive psychology posits that human beings want to cultivate the best parts of themselves and that the building blocks of psychological thriving require a separate set of tools from the solutions that classical psychology has already developed that are effective for solving psychological problems.

Positive psychology seeks to understand the thought patterns, behaviors, and environments that facilitate human flourishing. And of course, the next logical question is – once we understand those patterns, can they be taught to others in order to create flourishing. Happily, the answer is yes!

This course is designed to teach you some of the most foundational positive psychology research and practical approaches to applying this research in your work with clients in order to become a practitioner who not only helps clients become fully functional – but who also gives them the tools to thrive.

Workshop Objectives

1.  Understand the research and discovery of positive psychology.

2.  Learn the science behind optimism and how to help your clients think more optimistically.

3.  Learn how to help clients decrease self-blame and feelings of worry or helplessness.

4.  Practice conducting an entire session based upon the science of positive psychology.

5 . Guide clients toward the practices that are proven to boost thriving.

6.  Help clients cultivate positive relationships.

7.  Apply the science of positive psychology to your direct relationship with clients.
